THE DRAMA STARTS HERE

For Drag History month of course!!!! This blog is and has always supported the art of drag, and since January is the unofficial month of drag I will be reposting some old favorite posts for new readers, and sprinkling in some new content......so lets us celebrate the month in a ode to these stunning and hard working queens, who are often bright spots in a sometimes dark world, give us laughs, who lend hands to our community and are always there to support and rally the troops.....and of course add the sparkle and drama. Here to kick off the month is the fabulous Chrystal Conners......

  4. How far back you willing to go? I found out not too long ago that Milton Berle was appearing in what we would now call a drag show as early as 1929, some 20 years before he put on a dress for television. I'll grant you Berle was comically grotesque compared to RuPaul and other contemporary performers, but it does show the art form is a lot older than we think.

    1. In past years, I have gone back to the late 1800's!!!!! I have done maybe three drag history months before. I remember when Berle presented once with RuPaul at an awards shows. She TOWERED him.

    2. Maddie, I think I started reading your blog during a drag history month about a year ago. I saw the topic on another person's (Bob Slatten) blog and hopped on over here. It was fascinating and I've been hopping over here ever since.

  6. I so identify with the sentiment of the song. I am having a problem understanding the hair. What is that? The texture looks like a plastic wig I had as a kid. Oh the work that must go into not only the look, but the presentation. I'm tired.

  9. Excellent performance! Very entertaining!

Until RuPaul launched into the stratosphere with Supermodel and sent people hitting the dance floor, I didn't realize drag queens came in Glamour size. Didn't even know RuPaul was a drag queen til someone told me. Up til then, most of the drag queens I knew were down to earth, nice and chic, not fashionista flashy.

Then came Too Wong Foo... and Priscilla. John Leguizamo was the most beautiful; Wesley Snipes cracked me up with the Latin jokes. And the Aussies put on the best, most fun dance performances and wore the most glamorous outfits.
